Can I speak to you before booking?
I offer a free 30 minute introductory session to see whether we are right for each other and for any questions to be asked.
What happens in a session?
It depends on the age of the client and the presenting issue. Sessions are client-led, which means no two sessions are the same. In general, the first session is about building rapport and finding out a bit more about my client’s situation. This is a relaxed session and might involve talking or drawing, in the case of children. The following sessions are also a mix of talking and playful, empowering techniques which help the client to understand the emotions they are feeling and how to manage them.
How long is each session?
The first session is between 60-90 minutes. Subsequent sessions are 45-60 minutes long.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on the client and the presenting issue. Some clients need as few as 4-5 sessions, whereas others will require 6-10 sessions. I recommend starting with a fixed booking for 4 sessions, after which we would discuss and agree together how many more sessions may be required.
Do I stay with my child or teenager?
This is up to you and how comfortable you think your child will be. Children and teenagers tend to open up more without a parent present, however this can be discussed during our introductory 30 minute session and we can find a solution that works best for you and your child/teenager.
Where will we meet?
I work from the Calm Rooms in Monkstown. I also offer online sessions.
How do I know if it’s right for me or my child?
During the 30 minute introductory session you can ask me any questions or chat through any concerns and I will do my best to answer. If I’m not the right coach for you, I will happily refer you to another coach.
